☀️ WEEK IN REVIEW:

✏️ Transcript

Trades of the Week: ES & MES Futures Battle Plan | Best Emini Trading Room

Let’s talk about the trades of the week. Before we dive into this week’s setups, we need to carry forward last Sunday’s battle plan long that played out beautifully. That trade concluded this week, and we’ll walk through it step by step.

Carrying Forward the Sunday Long

Coming into this week from Friday, your stop was five points under the RTH low. That’s what this box represents. At this point, you’d already be up 130 points from the long—plenty of room to carry a “lotto runner” into the weekend. If you’re up 100+ points, you can typically carry it through the weekend, especially in cash or prop accounts that allow it.

Sunday Night Battle Plan

As the market opened Sunday, I published the battle plan with 1–5 mapped trade entries, each numbered on the chart. Sometimes there are extra notes on the chart and at MicroTrader.com Battle Plan.

The setup was simple: if we opened with an immediate push into the marked zone, I was interested—but only if the bulls showed clean energy. Messy action? I was out. Strong bullish intent? That zone should hold. Price pushed back up and made a new high, so for me—no trade. Remember: unless I specifically note an invalidation rule, the trade idea remains active until executed.

Execution Attempts & Market Reaction

Eventually, price did come into the range I wanted. I favored the lower edge, but the first touch sparked a short-covering rally into the close. At the next open, I hoped for one more test lower to get long. Instead, it was sloppy—so I passed. Still, the broader battle plan worked, because price responded exactly where I expected bulls to defend.

That’s the essence of the battle plan: great bulls know where the bears are, and great bears know where the bulls are. Even without my preferred entry, the zone held true.

Day-by-Day Battle Plan Review

Monday’s Battle Plan

The Monday night plan didn’t trigger—none of the entries played out. Nothing to review there.

Tuesday: Live Long Trade

On Tuesday, I was live on Zoom (and also on YouTube). During the session, I mapped out a long with three profit targets. Using our three-contract system, you would still have been holding a runner by the time we reached target #3. That’s also where I had a mapped-out short. Once again, bulls and bears were exactly where the plan said they’d be.

Wednesday: Careful With Fresh Longs

Wednesday’s battle plan (posted before ETH open) featured trade idea #2. Notes warned: “Be careful with fresh longs this high. I prefer deeper pathing and need to see a move back with vengeance.” Sure enough, the bulls stepped in exactly where expected. Members on Zoom saw it live—we went long and did very well.

I never trade news candles with a cash account, but after the spike, I did re-enter on a ladder sequence at the mapped zone. Another textbook reaction.

Thursday: Short Above RTH High

Thursday night’s battle plan labeled this as trade idea #1 (remember, numbering is for visual order, not importance). The note was clear: “Possible short if we run above the RTH high.” That’s exactly what happened. The Dow tagged an all-time high, snapped back inside the range, and the short trade worked beautifully.

Conclusion: Wrapping Up the Sunday Long

Let’s circle back to last Sunday’s long. Using strict rules, stops were moved five points under successive RTH lows:

  • At +150 points, stop trailed under the next RTH low.
  • At +200 points, it ratcheted higher again.
  • Ultimately, the trade concluded at +215 points, stopped out by rule.

If you’re up over 200 points, there’s flexibility—you could hold with a wider stop, or lock in the strict 200. Either way, the trade was a massive win and aligned perfectly with the battle plan levels.

Final Note

This trade officially concluded as part of the battle plan sequence. Get tomorrow’s mapped trades tonight at MicroTrader.com Battle Plan.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS: BATTLE PLAN

What is the primary purpose of the “battle plan”?
The “battle plan” serves as a strategic roadmap for traders, mapping out potential trade entries (both long and short), expected price zones where bulls or bears are likely to exert influence, and exit strategies. It aims to provide a clear framework for anticipated market movements, allowing traders to proactively position themselves.

How are trade entries determined and presented in the “battle plan”?
Trade entries are visually mapped out on charts, often numbered between one and five. These entries are accompanied by specific notes outlining conditions for engagement, such as requiring “clean lading” from bulls or anticipating a “move back with a vengeance.” The numbering indicates visual order on the chart, not an order of importance.

What is the significance of identifying “bull” and “bear” zones in the battle plan?
A core principle highlighted is that “great bulls know where the bears are and great bears know where the bulls are.” This means the battle plan delineates specific price areas where either buying or selling pressure is expected to dominate, providing crucial context for trade decisions and anticipating market reactions.

How does the battle plan account for trades that don’t immediately execute or play out as expected?
The battle plan acknowledges that not all mapped trades will execute precisely as anticipated. For instance, a trade may remain valid until specific invalidation rules are given, or a planned entry might not be triggered if market conditions aren’t ideal (“just slop best nothing”). The emphasis is on having a clear understanding of potential scenarios and adapting accordingly, rather than forcing a trade.

What kind of flexibility is offered to traders once a trade is significantly profitable?
When a trade is significantly profitable (e.g., up 100+ or 200+ points), the battle plan suggests flexibility in managing the position. Traders can choose to carry “lotto runners” into the weekend, adjust their stops to lock in profits, or even decide to allow for a larger pullback while maintaining a substantial profit. The discretion lies with the individual trader when they are “up 200 points.”

Does the battle plan only focus on “long” trades?
No, the battle plan maps out both long and short trade opportunities. While the market might predominantly be in a “bull category” looking for longs, specific instances are shown where short positions are anticipated and executed, such as when prices run above the Regular Trading Hours (RTH) high and then slam back into the range.

How does the battle plan incorporate live market analysis and news events?
The creator of the battle plan conducts live Zoom sessions daily and YouTube lives on Tuesdays, allowing for real-time analysis and adjustments to the trading strategy as market conditions evolve. While the battle plan identifies areas for potential entry, it explicitly states that news candles cannot be traded due to their unpredictable nature in a cash account, but subsequent “lattering sequences” at battle plan locations are permissible.

Where can traders access the battle plan and additional resources?
The battle plan, including charts and additional notes, is published regularly, often before the ETH (electronic trading hours) session opens. Traders can access tomorrow’s trades tonight at microtrader.com by clicking on the “battle plan” section. Membership options, such as “battle plan member” or “full member,” provide access to the live Zoom sessions.

Methodology

Each evening, I scan the ES chart and ask one primary question:

Where are the bulls and bears positioned?

“Great bears know where the bulls are.
Great bulls know where the bears are.”

The arrows you see highlight those pressure points…zones where reactions in price are most likely.

Careful consideration is given to trend, range structure, liquidity pools, and our Strong Levels — a custom TradingView indicator available to paid Battle Plan or full Micros Trader members.

Most arrows lean toward the buy side. That’s no coincidence as the ES is a long-biased instrument over time.

How you choose to trade these zones is entirely up to you:

Entry:

  • Our Core Strategy: Low-time frame bounce levels.
  • Level Reclaim: Market order with proper stop loss under low.
  • Your own preferred method: Just use the arrows as a price map and trade on your own confirmation.
  • Paper Trade til confident.
  • Set Alerts on TradingView as ES/MES trades 23 hours a day. Entries may occur at any time.

Instrument:

  • Futures — My primary instrument as our group trades ES/MES futures as scalps and multi-day holds.
  • Option spreads

Nothing on this page is a trade recommendation.

Mapped Out Entry Paths: An Explanation

Green Path: My preferred trade location and expected price path.

White Path: Alternative trade paths of interest with potential market movement.

Refer to the notes on the chart below for important details about entry risk.

⚠️ Reminder: Only take trades based on your own confirmation signals. The outlined scenarios represent just one trader’s perspective—mine.
